Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully as by placing an order you will be deemed to have read, understood and agreed to them.

Peter Reed is a trading name of John Butterworth and Son Limited. The registered office of Peter Reed Limited and John Butterworth and Son Limited is Butterworth Mill, 30B Churchill Way, Lomeshaye, Nelson, Lancashire BB9 6RT. The VAT number for Peter Reed Limited is GB 902 1820 67 and the company registration number is 04663107. The VAT number for John Butterworth and Son Limited is GB 902 1820 67 and the company registration number is 04687070. These terms & conditions of trading apply to all contracts between John Butterworth and Son Limited ( henceforth JBS ) or Peter Reed Limited Limited ( henceforth PRL ) ('us, we, our') and the customer ('you, your').

This website: www.peterreed.com, is operated by John Butterworth and Son Limited (which is wholly owned subsidiary of Peter Reed Limited).

This website and the Terms and Conditions therein have been designed for use within the United Kingdom and are made under English law. By using the website you agree to this and submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts and that these Terms will apply to the supply of any goods made to you by JBS or PRL.

The website and its contents are provided by JBS/PRL without any representation or warranty of any kind in respect of the website and/or its content. You must bear the risks associated with the use of the Internet. We shall not be liable to you or any third party for any loss or damage which may arise from the use of any content on the website or access to the website.

The provisions of these conditions relate exclusivity to the supply of Goods within the United Kingdom. Whilst we are happy to consider requests for Goods and enquiries from outside the United Kingdom, separate arrangements with regard to price, delivery and payment may apply. You should therefore contact our Customer Services department, details of which are given at the end of these terms, for any non-UK requirements.

We give no warranty, that use of the website, including the placing of orders from outside the UK, complies with any non-UK legislation. Goods, promotions or credit terms not permitted under any such legislation are therefore not offered to users in such territories.


Placing an Order

By placing an order via this website you are making an offer to JBS/PRL to purchase the goods detailed in your order upon the terms described in your order.

Once you have placed an order we will send you a confirmation that your order has been received but this is not a confirmation that your offer to purchase the goods has been accepted. A contract between you and JBS/PRL for the sale of our products will only exist once an order has been accepted, processed and despatched to you.

Your credit/debit card will be authorised when your order is placed and processed but you will not be charged for the value of the goods until the point that they are despatched to you. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Prices and availability of goods are subject to change without notice. A delivery charge will be added to your order value where appropriate, please see the delivery times and charges..


Your Right to Cancel

You may normally cancel your order (once accepted by us) for any reason up to the point of dispatch on all standard items If you do cancel the contract within this time any payments made by you will be refunded in full within 30 days. We regret we cannot accept cancellations on orders that are made specifically for you or on bespoke product requests.


Returns Policy

You are entitled to return Goods within seven days of receipt subject to compliance with our returns policy . Your statutory rights are not affected by this policy.

Where Goods are returned, provided that they are returned in perfect condition, unused, complete and with the original packaging we shall exchange or provide a refund of the price of the Goods. Please take extra care to read our Peter Reed Products page as we cannot accept items for a refund or exchange if the goods are not in perfect condition or it is obvious to us that the goods have been used or washed.

JBS/PRL does not accept liability for any costs incurred for the return of Goods, unless in the opinion of JBS/PRL the Goods are faulty.

If exchanging Goods and the new items you require costs less than the ones you have returned we will refund you the difference. If exchanging Goods and the new items you require cost more than the one you returned an additional payment to cover the balance will be required.

All items that are exchanged will incur a new delivery charge at the then current rate, unless they are deemed faulty by us, in which case no further delivery charges will arise.

Refunds for items bought can only be made to the original credit/debit card used for the purchase. When returning items you are strongly recommended to obtain proof of posting. We cannot accept responsibility for parcels lost in transit.


Faulty Item Returns

If the Goods you received are faulty, please contact our customer services department at www.peterreed.com or call us on 01282-616069 quoting your order number, your name and address, details of the product and the defect and whether you require a refund or a replacement. You will then be given an authorization number and advised on how to proceed with the return. You have 7 working days from the day after receipt of the faulty Goods to return them to us.


Wrong Item Received Returns

If the Goods you received are not what you originally ordered, please contact our customer services department at www.peterreed.com or call us on 01282-616069 quoting your order number, your name and address, details of the Goods ordered / received and whether you require a refund or a replacement. You will then be given an authorization number and advised on how to proceed with the return. You have 7 working days from the day after receipt of the item to return them to us.


Delivery and Charges

We aim to dispatch all standard size items and products within 10 days. For custom made or bespoke items delivery will depend on the specific order but we would normally expect to deliver within 3 working weeks. Within mainland UK orders under £100 excluding VAT will incur a delivery charge of £10.95; orders between £100 and £400 excluding vat will incur a delivery charge of £8.95. All orders above £400 excluding VAT will be shipped carriage paid. Urgent Requirements can be sent by overnight courier service at extra cost. All orders for shipment outside the UK will be charged at cost.

Payment Terms

We accept online payment in a secure environment by credit card . We currently accept Visa, Mastercard, Delta, Switch. All transactions are shown in pounds sterling (£).

All prices quoted on this website are accurate at the time of publication and are quoted in pounds sterling (£) and where appropriate are inclusive of UK sales tax (VAT) at the current rate. If your order is being despatched to a destination outside the European Union (EU) then your sales tax will be zero. If your order is being sent to a member state of the EU then the selling price will include VAT at the current rate. The current rate of VAT is 17.5%. Any customs or import duties levied once the package reaches your destination country will be your responsibility as we have no control over these charges and cannot predict them. All payments to be made to John Butterworth & Son Limited; which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Peter Reed Limited, at the address shown below.

Use of this website to place an order for goods signifies that you have consented to the collection processing and use of personal information by us for the purpose of administering and dealing with your order or account, market research, processing your payments, credit/debit reference checking and fraud detection, We may choose to use this information for marketing for ourselves and carefully chosen partner companies. Any changes to this policy will be posted on this site.

All dates quoted for delivery are estimated delivery dates only and may be subject to change and we can accept no liability for any loss or damage (whether direct or indirect) for delivery at any time other than the estimated date for delivery.


Conformity of Goods

We take every care to ensure that the description and specification of our products are correct at the time of going to press. However, specifications and descriptions of products on this website are not intended to be binding and are intended only to give a general description of the products. Furthermore, while the colour reproduction of the products is a close representation, we cannot accept any responsibility for any variation in colour caused by the browser software or computer system used by you.

JBS/PRL does not seek to exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury arising from its negligence or that of its members, agents, directors or employees or for any fraudulent misrepresentation.

To the fullest extent permitted by law and save as provided above, neither JBS/PRL nor any associated company shall be liable to you by reason of any representation, or any implied warranty, condition or other term, or any duty at common law, or under the express terms of the contract, or in negligence (whether on the part of JBS/PRL or any of its members, agents, directors, employees or otherwise) for any indirect special or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to loss of profit or loss of saving), costs, expenses or other claims for compensation whatsoever which arise out of or in connection with the use of this website, the supply of the products or their use or resale by you.

The limitations of liability in these conditions shall apply equally for the benefit of JBS AND PRL.

While JBS/PRL use reasonable endeavours to ensure that the information on this website is accurate and up to date, it does not give any warranty as to its accuracy or completeness and JBS/PRL will not be responsible for any errors or omissions or for the results arising from the use of such information.

You may not assign or transfer any of your rights or sub contract any of your obligations under these terms and conditions except with the specific permission in writing of JBS and /or PRL.

No person who is not a party to these terms and conditions shall have any right to enforce any term under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. Nothing in these conditions is intended nor shall affect any of your statutory rights that may not be legally excluded.
